August 08, 2016

State Member for Algester Leeanne Enoch has joined with staff at the Greenbank RSL Services Club to recognise their nomination as a finalist in the 2016 Queensland Training Awards.

Greenbank RSL has been nominated in the Medium Employer of the Year Category.

“Across Queensland we saw 660 applicants for the Queensland Training Awards. This number has been whittled down to 175 organisations and individuals across nine award categories,” Ms Enoch said.

“Greenbank RSL should be very proud of their nomination for this award. Local businesses such as the Greenbank RSL, through training programs, provide people in our community with training and employment opportunities
“The Medium Employer of the Year Award recognises a medium enterprise with 20 to 199 staff for their outstanding achievement in the area of vocational education and training.

Greenbank RSL General Manager Tim Wright said they were proud to have been nominated in the finals of the Queensland Training Awards.

“The training and development of our staff is of huge importance to the Greenbank RSL. We have a whole of business focus when it comes to helping staff increase their knowledge and gain qualifications,” he said.

This year the Greenbank RSL has engaged with the local community in providing 11 local school children with a career opportunity as part of the Greenbank RSL Community Development program.

The students undertake a Certificate III in Hospitality with the aim of ongoing employment and further training once they leave school.

“We are excited to have one of those students also in the finals. Nathan Perry has been an exceptional trainee this year and has become a finalist in the category of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

“All our staff wish him well and believe he has a bright future ahead of him.

“We hope to provide great experiences for our valued members and guests in our newly renovated venue with well trained, qualified and engaging staff making the difference,” Mr Wright said.

Greenbank RSL is at the heart of our community in Logan and we are proud to support local families through our employment opportunities and our various ongoing training and development initiatives.

State Member for Logan Linus Power joined Mr Wright in congratulating Browns Plains State High School student Nathan Perry on being selected in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year category.

“I’m delighted to be able to congratulate Nathan and the Greenbank RSL for their training initiatives and hard work, and all of us in the Logan community can be proud of their achievements.

Their combined effort is a tremendous accomplishment and I wish both Nathan and the Greenbank RSL the best of luck in the Finals at the end of July,” Mr Power said.
