Forest Lake High preparing Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow

August 08, 2016

Forest Lake State High School will receive $16,600 as part of the Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow grants program to help prepare students for the types of jobs that will exist in the future.

State Member for Algester and Innovation Minister Leeanne Enoch said that the grant was part of the Palaszczuk Government’s Advancing Education – An action plan for education in Queensland.

Ms Enoch congratulated Forest Lake State High on leading the charge for digital literacy.

“It is great to see local schools in the Algester Electorate being leaders in teaching coding and robotics,” she said.

“Many of the jobs we know today will be very different in 10 years and digital literacy is a vital part of ensuring that students are prepared for these jobs of the future.

“The Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow program is supporting our schools to create innovative educational programs in coding and robotics and to develop important entrepreneurial skills.”

“These grants support programs that give students an opportunity to connect with entrepreneurs and innovators,” she said.

“Initiatives like this provide students with the chance to learn real world skills, become budding innovators and have the ability and confidence to take their great ideas to market.

“I’m delighted to see Forest Lake State High School be a part of this exciting initiative.”

Ms Enoch said the Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow was another example of the Palaszczuk Government’s commitment to skilling Queensland students for 21st century jobs.

“We want to be able to prepare students for the digital job market with real world skills and this program will give our students the best chance at success,” she said.
