Algester job seekers are among the 7540 people to receive nationally recognised training thanks to $33.3 million from the Palaszczuk Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.
Member for Algester and Minister for Innovation Leeanne Enoch welcomed the announcement of $58,200 of funding for local community group ARIMA to deliver accredited training programs in construction and furnishing.
“These funds will allow ARIMA to offer participants the opportunity to study a nationally accredited Certificate 1 training program in both construction and furnishing,” Ms Enoch said.
“Once completed, participants may benefit from the Work Start incentives program, which offers a one-off financial incentive of $2,000 to employers if they employ someone who completed an eligible Skilling Queenslanders for Work project.
Ms Enoch said ARIMA promotes socio-economic participation of Australians from refugee and migrant backgrounds; and also combat social isolation for all Australians.
“It is programs like Skilling Queenslanders for Work that are getting Queenslanders working again. Providing support for unemployed, disengaged and disadvantaged people in our community, and improve their chances of finding stable employment.”
Skilling Queenslanders for Work funds skill development, training and job opportunities for unemployed, disengaged or disadvantaged Queenslanders through a suite of targeted skills and training programs.
